In this blog post, I will be trying to convince you why you should be doing SEO for your website.

Let's start with an example

Now, let's say, you offer services in a very competitive field.

In our example, we will use a lawyer based in Singapore.

There are bound to hundreds of searches on Google or Bing for "singapore lawyers" every day.

This means, if your website is appearing for this keyword, you could noticed by searchers.

As a lawyer, you would be over the moon to be capturing even 10% of this traffic every month.

But, there is a known saying in SEO:

"If you ever need to hide a dead body – use the second page in Google’s search result, no one will ever find it! Page 2 is where the forgotten content and websites go to die."

The SEO giant, Moz, conducted an SEO study in 2014, and found that:

• 71.33% of Google search traffic goes to the first 10 search results
• only 3.99% goes to the second page of Google search results

This means, if your website does not show on the first page for your needed keyword, no one will click on your website.

Furthermore, the average user does not go past the top 5 results.

This means, if your website is not on the top 5 results, you will be missing out on most of the traffic.

How can SEO help?

By doing SEO optimization on your website, there is potential to be ranking on the top 5 results of your keyword.

This means, you would be capturing over 70% of traffic.

If you are a lawyer, for a single keyword like "Singapore lawyers", you could be getting ~130 visits every month.

And that is only for a single keyword.

Now imagine if you could get 10 high traffic keywords optimized and showing on Google.

Assuming they have roughly as much traffic, that would be ~1.3k visits every month.

How much potential revenue would this amount of traffic bring to you?

My answer: a LOT!
