Divorce is one of those things nobody plans for. But when it happens, the first thing you need is a good lawyer. Someone who knows the Singapore family court system inside out, fights for your interests without dragging things out unnecessarily, and does not charge you into bankruptcy along the way.
I have spent the last eight years building websites for businesses across Singapore, and law firms make up a good portion of my client base. That gives me an unusual vantage point. I have seen how these firms operate behind the scenes, what their actual case data looks like, how they treat clients, and whether their marketing claims hold up under scrutiny. Some firms look polished online but deliver average results. Others are understated but consistently get the job done.
For this instalment of Terris Recommends, I researched the best divorce lawyers in Singapore for 2026. Whether you are going through an uncontested split, a contested custody battle, or a high-net-worth asset division, this list covers firms for every situation and budget.
What I look for in a divorce lawyer in Singapore
Before jumping into the list, here is how I evaluate these firms. My criteria come from years of working alongside legal professionals and hearing directly from their clients.
- Track record in family law. Divorce law is its own world. I look for firms where family and matrimonial law is a core practice area, not a side offering tucked between corporate and conveyancing work.
- Client reviews and reputation. Google reviews, testimonials on SingaporeLegalAdvice.com, Doyle's Guide rankings, and Straits Times Best Law Firms recognition. Volume matters, but so does consistency.
- Transparent pricing. Divorce is stressful enough without surprise bills. I favour firms that publish their fees, offer fixed-fee packages, or at least provide clear estimates upfront.
- Communication and responsiveness. Does the firm respond promptly? Do they explain things in plain language? Can you reach them outside office hours? These details matter when your personal life is falling apart.
- Specialisation within family law. Some firms excel at mediation. Others thrive in contested hearings. Matching the firm to your situation is more important than picking the "best" name.
1. AW Law
I built the AW Law website. That process gave me months of direct access to their team, their case data, and their approach to client service. What stood out was not the marketing. It was the substance behind it. A 90% success rate for contested divorces is a bold claim, and they back it up with over 500 satisfied clients and 200+ positive reviews across Google and SingaporeLegalAdvice.com.
The firm is led by Abdul Wahab, who graduated from the University of Leeds in 2013 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2015. AW Law handles both civil and Syariah divorce proceedings, which makes them one of the few firms on this list that covers both systems. They deal with everything from uncontested splits and child custody to contested asset division and maintenance claims. Their hours run from 9am to 10pm daily, which is rare for a law firm and genuinely useful when you need advice outside normal working hours.
What sets AW Law apart is their pricing model. They offer flat fees with no hidden costs, and they provide instalment plans for clients who need financial flexibility. Their team, including Mr Wahab and his team lead Leela, consistently receives praise for being patient, meticulous, and easy to communicate with. If you want a divorce lawyer in Singapore who combines strong results with a genuinely client-first approach, this is my top pick.

2. PKWA Law
3,900+ Google reviews with a 4.9-star rating. Let that number sink in. That volume of feedback, at that consistency, is extraordinary for any business, let alone a law firm. PKWA Law has been handling divorces in Singapore for over 30 years, and the numbers speak for themselves.
The firm is ranked in The Straits Times' Singapore's Best Law Firms for Family Law for the sixth consecutive year in 2026, and they are recognised by Doyle's Guide, Asian Legal Business, Benchmark Litigation, and the Singapore Business Review. They have 12 lawyers well-versed in divorce cases and a team of over 100 legal and support professionals across six offices. Jessica Chow, their Associate Director, is a standout practitioner who advises on both amicable and contested divorce cases.
Pricing starts from $1,200 for an uncontested divorce with fixed, transparent fees. They also offer a free first consultation, which takes the pressure off if you are still deciding whether to proceed. With offices in Toa Payoh, Raffles Place, Jurong, and Tampines, they are one of the most accessible firms on this list. For anyone who values the reassurance of a large, proven, and highly-reviewed firm, PKWA is the safe choice.

3. Gloria James-Civetta & Co
Gloria James brings 29 years of legal experience to her practice, and she has built one of Singapore's largest teams of dedicated divorce lawyers. GJC Law is not a general practice that happens to do family law. Divorce and family matters are their bread and butter, and it shows in the depth of expertise they bring to contested cases.
Gloria herself holds a remarkable list of qualifications. She is an Advocate and Solicitor, a Family Mediator, a Primary Justice Lawyer, a Child Representative Lawyer, a Parenting Coordination Lawyer, a Certified Divorce Coach, a Collaborative Practice Lawyer, and a Certified Therapeutic Justice Practitioner. That breadth is unusual and means she can approach your case from multiple angles, not just the adversarial courtroom route. GJC Law is listed among leading family and divorce lawyers in Doyle's Guide 2026.
Where GJC Law really shines is in high-conflict, contested cases where emotions run high and the other party is being difficult. Clients repeatedly describe Gloria and her team as fierce advocates who remain professional under pressure. If your divorce is going to be a fight, this is the team you want in your corner.

4. Harry Elias Partnership
If your divorce involves significant assets, complex property holdings, or cross-border complications, Harry Elias Partnership is the firm to consider. Their Family and Divorce Practice Group has been ranked 1st Tier by Doyle's Guide from 2015 to 2025, and they are also recognised by Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Chambers High Net Worth.
The practice is co-headed by Foo Siew Fong, who brings over 30 years of experience in contested divorces, complex asset tracing, and division of matrimonial assets. This is not a firm for a straightforward $2,000 uncontested divorce. Harry Elias handles the cases where millions are at stake, where assets are hidden across jurisdictions, and where both sides have aggressive legal representation. They reportedly have Singapore's largest family law team with one of the highest case volumes at the Family Justice Courts.
The trade-off is pricing. A firm of this calibre charges accordingly, and they are best suited for clients whose financial situation justifies the investment. But if your case is complex and the stakes are high, cutting corners on legal representation is a false economy. Harry Elias delivers at the level their reputation promises.

5. Beyond Legal LLC
Clement Yong spent over 10 years as a District Judge in the Family Justice Courts before moving into private practice. That is not a selling point you can fabricate. When your divorce lawyer has sat on the other side of the bench, they understand exactly how judges evaluate evidence, weigh arguments, and make decisions on custody and asset division.
Beyond Legal takes a compassionate but strategic approach to family law. Clients consistently describe Clement as patient, empathetic, and genuinely committed to protecting their interests. One client handling a cross-border case involving Singapore and Taiwan praised his ability to navigate every legal hurdle with "remarkable expertise," securing an uncontested divorce swiftly despite the complexity.
What I find most valuable about Beyond Legal is how Clement communicates. Multiple clients note that he explains complex legal concepts in clear, concise terms, keeping them informed and prepared at every stage. If you value having a lawyer who truly understands the court system from the inside and takes the time to walk you through every step, Beyond Legal is hard to beat.

6. Yuen Law LLC
Yuen Law's Private Wealth and Family Practice Group has earned The Straits Times' Singapore's Best Law Firms recognition for six consecutive years. That kind of sustained recognition does not happen by accident. It reflects a firm that consistently delivers for its clients across family law, inheritance, and succession matters.
Lim Fung Peen, a Consultant with the practice, brings roughly three decades of experience and is ranked as a Litigation Star in the 2025 edition of Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific. His specialisations extend beyond straightforward divorce to asset protection, pre-nuptial agreements, Mental Capacity Act applications, and family arrangements. If your divorce overlaps with estate planning or business ownership, that breadth of expertise becomes critical.
Clients describe Lim Fung Peen as warm, thorough, and sincere. One client noted feeling "very secured" after their first consultation and appreciated the honest guidance throughout the process. The firm provides transparent pricing quotes, which removes a common source of anxiety during an already difficult time. For divorces involving significant assets, business interests, or estate complications, Yuen Law is a strong choice.

7. Eden Law Corporation
June Lim founded Eden Law with a mission that sets her apart from most divorce lawyers in Singapore: a low bono pricing model. That means her fees are designed for middle-class families who cannot afford premium rates but do not qualify for pro bono legal aid. It is a gap in the market that surprisingly few firms address, and June fills it well.
Called to the Singapore Bar in 2009, June has built extensive experience across all aspects of matrimonial practice. She regularly advises high-net-worth clients on pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, but her real niche is cross-border divorces. International child abduction cases, child relocation matters, and divorces involving multiple jurisdictions all fall within her expertise. If your case has an international dimension, that specialisation is invaluable.
June also volunteers her time for disadvantaged women going through divorce, which tells you something about her character beyond the professional credentials. Clients describe her as patient, understanding, and compassionate, with charges that are "very reasonable and as agreed beforehand." For anyone who needs experienced private counsel without the premium price tag, Eden Law deserves a serious look.

8. Integro Law Chambers
Not every divorce needs to be a courtroom battle. Angelina Hing founded Integro Law Chambers with mediation at the core of her practice, and that philosophy shapes everything the firm does. Her goal is to make mediation the default first step for couples contemplating divorce, avoiding unnecessary contestation and litigation wherever possible.
Angelina is listed among leading family and divorce lawyers in Singapore in Doyle's Guide 2026, which confirms that a mediation-first approach does not mean a lack of legal firepower. When cases do require litigation, Integro handles that too. But their strength lies in guiding couples towards resolution without the emotional and financial toll of a contested hearing. Their administrator Eileen also receives specific praise for making clients feel at ease during what is typically a tense process.
Clients highlight how Integro helped them "navigate through the divorce process with confidence and clarity" even when facing intimidation from the other party. If you and your spouse are open to working things out amicably, or if you simply want to explore that option before escalating, Integro Law is the firm I would recommend starting with.

9. Yeo & Associates
Beatrice Yeo was named one of ALB's prestigious "40 Under 40" lawyers in 2018, and she was the only family law practitioner on the list. That recognition, combined with over 20 years of active practice, makes her one of the more formidable divorce lawyers you can engage in Singapore.
Clients describe her courtroom style as "fearless, articulate and professional." One client specifically praised how she "cross-examined the opponent in a skilful manner" to achieve a successful outcome. Yeo & Associates has earned a solid reputation for providing all-inclusive legal services at fair and viable rates, which sets them apart from firms that charge premium fees for similar work.
The firm handles all aspects of divorce and family law, from uncontested splits to complex custody battles. Client feedback consistently notes that their costs are "very reasonable compared to other law firms." If you need a lawyer who will fight assertively for your interests in court without charging you a fortune, Beatrice Yeo is someone to have on your side.

10. Populus Law
If your divorce is straightforward and your primary concern is keeping costs low, Populus Law offers the most affordable option on this list. Their uncontested divorce packages start from $875 nett for an online filing, inclusive of court filing fees, GST, and disbursements. For a physical filing, that goes up to $1,150 nett. Those are prices that most other firms simply cannot match.
The firm does not charge GST on their legal fees, which is a genuine saving that adds up. They also offer flexible payment arrangements for clients facing financial constraints. Their contested divorce fees start from $2,000 nett, which is still well below the market average. Mr Sim, the firm's lawyer, is described by clients as "very professional and helpful" with praise for how well he handles cases despite the low fees.
There is an important caveat here. Populus Law is ideal for simple, uncontested divorces where both parties agree on the key terms. For highly complex cases involving substantial assets, hidden wealth, or aggressive opposing counsel, you would be better served by one of the larger firms on this list. But for the many Singapore couples who simply need a clean, affordable, and professionally handled divorce, Populus Law delivers excellent value.

How much does a divorce lawyer cost in Singapore?
Divorce lawyer fees in Singapore vary significantly depending on whether your case is contested or uncontested.
For an uncontested divorce (where both parties agree on the divorce and ancillary matters like custody, maintenance, and asset division), most firms charge between $1,200 and $3,500 in fixed fees. The most affordable option on this list, Populus Law, starts from $875 nett. On the higher end, firms with more established reputations charge $2,500 to $3,500 for the same type of case.
For a contested divorce (where there are disputes over custody, maintenance, asset division, or the grounds for divorce), costs climb significantly. Expect to pay between $10,000 and $35,000, depending on how complex and drawn-out the proceedings become. Hourly rates for divorce lawyers in Singapore typically fall between $350 and $900 per hour.
Court filing fees are separate but relatively modest. The filing fee for a divorce originating summons is around $500 for uncontested cases and can reach $3,000 to $5,000 for contested cases.
My advice: always ask for a written fee estimate before engaging any firm. The better firms on this list, like AW Law, PKWA, and Populus Law, publish their fees upfront or provide fixed-fee packages. That transparency removes a major source of stress during an already difficult time.
How long does a divorce take in Singapore?
An uncontested divorce in Singapore typically takes 4 to 6 months from the date of filing to the Final Judgement. Here is the general timeline:
- Filing the Writ of Divorce: Your lawyer prepares and files the documents with the Family Justice Courts.
- Interim Judgement: If both parties agree on all terms, the court grants an Interim Judgement, usually within 1 to 3 months of filing.
- Final Judgement: Three months after the Interim Judgement, the divorce is finalised. This waiting period is mandatory under Singapore law.
A contested divorce takes significantly longer, often 12 months or more. If ancillary matters (custody, asset division, maintenance) are disputed, each issue may require separate hearings. Complex cases involving asset tracing across jurisdictions or contested custody arrangements can stretch beyond two years.
The speed of your case depends heavily on how cooperative both parties are and how efficiently your lawyer prepares the documentation. Having a good divorce lawyer can genuinely shorten the timeline by getting the paperwork right the first time and negotiating effectively with the other side.
Do I need a lawyer for my divorce in Singapore?
Legally, no. You can represent yourself in a divorce proceeding in Singapore. However, I would strongly recommend engaging a lawyer for several reasons:
- The process is complex. Singapore divorce law involves the Women's Charter, the Family Justice Courts, and potentially the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA) for Muslim marriages. Missing a procedural step can delay your case by months.
- Ancillary matters require negotiation. Custody, care and control, access arrangements, maintenance, and division of matrimonial assets all involve legal principles that a trained lawyer can navigate far more effectively than a layperson.
- Mistakes are costly. A poorly drafted consent order or a missed deadline can have lasting consequences on your rights and your children's welfare.
- Affordable options exist. As this list shows, several firms provide packages starting from under $1,000 for uncontested cases. Free initial consultations are common across most firms.
If cost is genuinely a barrier, the Legal Aid Bureau provides means-tested legal assistance, and the Law Society Pro Bono Services can assess whether you qualify for subsidised or free legal representation. But for most people, the investment in a qualified divorce lawyer pays for itself in better outcomes and peace of mind.
Need a website for your law firm?
If you run a legal practice and your website is not generating the leads it should, I can help. I have designed and built websites for law firms across Singapore, including AW Law (the number one firm on this list). A well-designed law firm website does more than look good; it builds trust, ranks on Google, and converts visitors into consultations.
