10 Best Gynaecologists Singapore (August 2026)

My picks for the 10 best gynaecologists in Singapore for 2026, covering obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy, fertility and IVF.

This guide is part of Terris Recommends, my researched, hands-on picks of the best local businesses and services in Singapore. Every recommendation is researched and ranked by me.

See all recommendations

If you have been searching for the best gynae in Singapore, you already know the real problem: there are hundreds of obstetricians and gynaecologists, and almost every clinic page reads exactly the same. I spent a couple of weeks on this list, cross-referencing Singapore's official Specialist Register, hospital affiliations, subspecialty training, and the volume and tone of real Google and forum reviews, so that every name here is one I would genuinely point my own family towards.

I am not a doctor. I am a Singapore web designer, and over eight years of building and studying clinic websites I have learned to see past the marketing gloss to the things that actually matter: is the doctor a properly accredited O&G specialist, what did they do before private practice, and are they known for the specific thing you need, whether that is a high-risk pregnancy, fertility treatment, or keyhole surgery. That research, not any business relationship, is what put each of these gynaecologists on the list.

This guide is also the starting point for a small pregnancy and baby series I am building. Once you have your gynae sorted, my companion guides to the best maternity hospitals in Singapore, the best lactation consultants, and the best confinement nanny agencies cover the next decisions you will face. This is editorial, not medical advice, so always confirm details directly with the clinic.

What I look for in a gynae in Singapore

Before the list, here is how I weighed these doctors. Choosing a gynae is a health decision, not a shopping trip, so my criteria are about credentials and fit rather than a slick website.

  • A registered O&G specialist. The single most important check. Every doctor here is on Singapore's Specialist Register, which you can verify yourself for free on the Singapore Medical Council Healthcare Professionals register. If a name is not on it as an O&G specialist, I would not go near them for pregnancy or surgery.
  • Track record before private practice. Many of the strongest names ran departments at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) or National University Hospital before going private. Public-sector seniority at the Ministry of Health restructured hospitals is a genuine signal of experience with complex cases.
  • The right subspecialty for you. A brilliant fertility and IVF doctor is not necessarily the one you want for a keyhole fibroid removal. I have noted each doctor's core strength so you can match it to your situation.
  • Reviews that ring true. I read past the star rating to what patients actually say: does the doctor explain clearly, avoid pressure, and stay calm when something is not routine. Consistency across Google and the local motherhood forums matters more to me than a single glowing testimonial.
  • Practical fit. Which hospital they deliver at, whether they are male or female, location, and cost all matter. For general women's health basics, the HealthHub resources from the Health Promotion Board are a sensible place to read up before your first consult.

If you are looking to choose a gynaecologist in Singapore for the first time, my honest advice is to shortlist two or three from this list, then book a first consultation with the one whose subspecialty and delivery hospital fit you best. Rapport is real, and you will be seeing this person a lot.

1. Dr Tan Thiam Chye (O&G The Women's Medical Specialist)

Dr Tan Thiam Chye is my top pick, and the reason is his pedigree. Before private practice he was the immediate former Head and Senior Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Singapore's largest women's hospital, and he is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. That is the kind of background you want when a pregnancy turns out to be more complicated than expected.

Best known for
Former KKH Head of O&G; pregnancy care, miscarriage, and fertility
Location
Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre, 38 Irrawaddy Road, Singapore
Google rating
4.8 stars

2. Dr Ng Kai Lyn

Dr Ng Kai Lyn is my first choice among the female gynaecologists on this list, and a genuinely reassuring pick if examinations make you anxious. Patients consistently describe her as gentle, thorough, and unhurried, the sort of doctor who listens properly before she reaches for a plan. For many women that comfort factor is the whole point of choosing a female gynae.

Best known for
Female gynae; urogynaecology and minimally invasive surgery
Location
Mount Elizabeth Novena, Singapore

3. Dr Christopher Ng (GynaeMD)

Dr Christopher Ng of GynaeMD is one of the more recognisable names in Singapore O&G, and for good reason. He has more than two decades of experience and is particularly well known for managing high-risk pregnancies, which is exactly the doctor you want in your corner if your pregnancy comes with complications or you are simply an anxious first-timer who wants a steady, experienced hand.

Best known for
High-risk pregnancy management and general gynaecology
Location
Camden Medical Centre, 1 Orchard Boulevard, Singapore

4.7 stars

4. Dr Law Wei Seng

If your issue is gynaecological rather than obstetric, and especially if surgery is on the table, Dr Law Wei Seng is a name I would want on my shortlist. His main interest is gynaecological laparoscopy, better known as keyhole surgery, which for the right cases means smaller scars, less pain, and a much faster recovery than open surgery. He received advanced fertiloscopy training in Lyon, France under a pioneer of the technique.

Best known for
Laparoscopic (keyhole) gynaecological surgery
Location
WS Law Women's Clinic, Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre, Singapore
Google rating
4.9 stars

5. Dr Janice Tung

Dr Janice Tung is my pick for couples where fertility is the main story. She is an accredited IVF specialist as well as a general O&G, so she covers IVF, IUI, and egg freezing alongside routine pregnancy and gynaecology care. If you are starting to worry about conceiving, seeing a doctor who can take you from investigation through to assisted reproduction under one roof saves a lot of stress and referrals.

Best known for
Fertility, IVF, IUI, and egg freezing
Location
The O&G Specialist Clinic, Novena and Mount Alvernia, Singapore
Google rating
4.8 stars
Website

6. Dr Irene Chua (Irene & Jon Clinic for Women)

Dr Irene Chua is another female gynae I rate highly, particularly for surgical gynaecology. She specialises in gynaecological surgery and endoscopy (keyhole surgery), and her background is serious: she was formerly a senior consultant in the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit and head of the 24-hour Women's Clinic at KK Women's and Children's Hospital. That combination of surgical skill and front-line urgent experience is genuinely reassuring.

Best known for
Female gynae; keyhole (endoscopic) gynaecological surgery
Location
Irene & Jon Clinic for Women, Gleneagles Medical Centre, 6 Napier Road, Singapore
Google rating
4.8 stars

7. Dr Wee Horng Yen (The O&G Care Clinic)

Dr Wee Horng Yen is a strongly credentialed choice, especially for higher-risk pregnancies. Before private practice he was a Senior Consultant and Head of Unit at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, and he has particular experience with high-risk pregnancy and gestational diabetes. He has also collected an unusual stack of national patient-service accolades, including a Ministry of Health award and a Straits Times inaugural Top Ten Doctors recognition.

Best known for
High-risk pregnancy and gestational diabetes; award-winning care
Location
The O&G Care Clinic, Royal Square @ Novena, Singapore
Google rating
4.7 stars

8. Dr Dharshini Gopalakrishnakone (Kierauniv International Clinic for Women)

Dr Dharshini Gopalakrishnakone, known warmly to patients as Dr Dharsh, is another female obstetrician I would happily recommend, particularly for pregnancy care with a personal touch. She is a Specialist Consultant O&G who graduated from NUS and holds membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK.

Best known for
Female gynae; personalised pregnancy and gynaecology care
Location
Kierauniv International Clinic for Women, Mount Elizabeth Novena, Singapore
Google rating
4.9 stars
Website
drdharsh.com

9. Dr Paul Tseng

Dr Paul Tseng earns his place for one distinctive reason: he is one of very few obstetricians in Singapore who offer water birth, and he is a well-known advocate of VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean). If you have your heart set on a lower-intervention birth, or you want a genuine attempt at a natural birth after a previous C-section, he is one of the first doctors to look at.

Best known for
Water birth and VBAC; urogynaecology and subfertility
Location
Thomson Medical Centre, 339 Thomson Road, Singapore
Google rating
4.7 stars

10. Dr Candice Wang (ACJ Women's Clinic)

Dr Candice Wang rounds out the list, and she is a lovely recommendation for a first pregnancy where you want to feel heard. She graduated from NUS and completed her Masters of Medicine in O&G there, and patients repeatedly praise how much time she gives them, patiently talking through scans and answering the anxious questions every first-time parent has.

Best known for
Warm, unhurried antenatal care and general gynaecology
Location
ACJ Women's Clinic, Mount Alvernia Medical Centre D, 820 Thomson Road, Singapore
Google rating
4.8 stars

How much does a gynae and delivery cost in Singapore?

This is the question every expecting parent asks, so here is an honest picture for 2026. Two bills matter: what the hospital charges for the maternity package, and what your gynae charges as their own professional fee, which is usually billed separately.

ItemIndicative cost (2026)
First specialist consultationS$80 to S$180
Full antenatal (pregnancy) package with a gynaeS$1,500 to S$4,000
Normal delivery, private hospital (hospital package)S$8,000 to S$18,000
C-section, private hospital (hospital package)S$12,000 to S$30,000+
Gynae's own delivery fee (billed on top)S$2,000 to S$6,000

A few things soften the blow. MediSave can be used for part of your antenatal costs and the delivery itself, subject to withdrawal limits, and public hospitals like KKH and NUH are considerably cheaper than private if you are comfortable with a larger team and less choice of doctor. The cheapest option is rarely the point here, so I would choose the doctor first, then plan the budget around the hospital they deliver at.

How do I choose a gynae in Singapore?

Start by confirming the doctor is a registered O&G specialist on the Singapore Medical Council register, then match their subspecialty to your need. For a first pregnancy, a strong general obstetrician like Dr Tan Thiam Chye or Dr Christopher Ng is ideal; for fertility, look at an IVF specialist like Dr Janice Tung; for surgery, a laparoscopic expert like Dr Law Wei Seng or Dr Irene Chua. Then consider practical fit: male or female doctor, which hospital they deliver at, location, and cost. Finally, book a first consultation, because rapport is something you can only judge in person.

Should I see a male or female gynae?

This is entirely personal, and neither is clinically better. Many women feel more comfortable with a female gynae for intimate examinations, and this list has excellent female options, including Dr Ng Kai Lyn, Dr Janice Tung, Dr Irene Chua, Dr Dharshini Gopalakrishnakone, and Dr Candice Wang. Others prioritise a specific doctor's experience or subspecialty over gender, and several of the most senior obstetricians in Singapore are male. My advice is not to rule anyone out on gender alone; shortlist on credentials and subspecialty first, then let comfort be the tie-breaker.

When should I first see a gynae during pregnancy?

As a general guide, most gynaecologists in Singapore like to see you for your first antenatal visit at around six to eight weeks of pregnancy, once a positive test is confirmed, so they can check the pregnancy is developing in the right place and set up your antenatal schedule. If you have a known condition, a history of miscarriage, or you are trying to conceive with difficulty, it is worth seeing a gynae earlier or even before conceiving. For general guidance on pregnancy stages, the HealthHub resources are a reliable, non-commercial starting point, but your own gynae is the person to build a plan with.

Do I need a referral to see a gynae in Singapore?

For a private gynaecologist, no. You can book directly with any of the doctors on this list without a GP referral, which is one reason many people go private for pregnancy care and continuity with a single doctor. If you want subsidised care at a public hospital such as KKH, NUH, or Singapore General Hospital, a referral (often from a polyclinic) usually gets you the subsidised rate. Either way, the choice of doctor and hospital is yours to make, so it is worth doing the homework this list is meant to save you.

Need a website for your clinic or practice?

A quick, separate note from me, and nothing to do with the picks above. A lot of what makes a patient choose one gynae over another happens before the first appointment, on a website, at 1am, on a phone. If your clinic's site is slow, dated, or hard to book from, you are quietly losing patients to a competitor with a clearer one.

That is the part I help with. I design and build fast, trustworthy websites for clinics and small businesses across Singapore. If yours could be working harder to turn nervous Google searches into booked consultations, take a look at my web design services or get a free quote.

The bottom line

The best gynae in Singapore for you is the one whose subspecialty, hospital, and manner fit your situation, not simply the most famous name. Dr Tan Thiam Chye is my overall top pick for his depth of obstetric experience, but the honest answer is that a fertility journey, a keyhole surgery, and a straightforward first pregnancy all point to different doctors on this list. Shortlist two or three, then let a first consultation decide.

Once your gynae is chosen, the rest of the journey gets easier to plan. My guides to the best maternity hospitals in Singapore, the best lactation consultants, and the best confinement nanny agencies pick up right where this one leaves off.

Editorial note: This guide reflects my own research and opinion, and is not medical advice. I am a Singapore web designer, not a doctor. Doctor credentials, clinic details, ratings, and indicative prices were accurate to the best of my research at the time of writing (last updated July 2026) but can change. Always verify a doctor on the Singapore Medical Council register and confirm details directly with the clinic before booking.
