10 Best IB Schools in Singapore (October 2026)
IB schools Singapore guide: 10 schools ranked by their published IB Diploma averages, with pass rates, IB programmes and 2026-27 fees.
This guide is part of Terris Recommends, my researched, hands-on picks of the best local businesses and services in Singapore. Every recommendation is researched and ranked by me.
See all recommendationsMost lists of IB schools in Singapore rank on reputation. I wanted a ranking a parent can check, so I built this one on the number every IB school gets back at the end of the Diploma: its average score. For each school I went to its own results page, wrote down the latest average and pass rate it published, then looked at which IB programmes it runs, what the two Diploma years cost and who it suits.
The bar is 30.88. That's the global average Diploma score for the May 2026 exams, from the IB itself. Every school in my top 10 cleared it by at least four points. Where a school didn't publish a pass rate, the table says so. I didn't guess.
This guide is about the IB Diploma and the schools that teach it. If you're still choosing between British, American and IB schools, start with my guide to the best international schools in Singapore. If your child has IGCSEs first, my IGCSE schools guide covers that stage.
These are the latest IB Diploma results each school published on its own website, checked on 28 October 2026. Most sit the May exams, so their figures are from May 2026, when the global average was 30.88. Hwa Chong International School and ACS (International) sit the November exams, so their latest are from November 2025, when both schools give the global average as 29.3. Tanglin Trust School calls its 39.1 provisional.

The IB Diploma is a two-year course for students aged 16 to 19. A student takes six subjects, one from each IB group: language and literature, a second language, individuals and societies, sciences, maths and the arts. The arts can be swapped for a second science, humanities subject or language. Three or four subjects are taken at higher level, which is 240 teaching hours, and the rest at standard level, which is 150.
Around those six subjects sits the core. Theory of knowledge (TOK) asks students to think about how we know what we know. The extended essay is a research paper each student writes on a question of their own. CAS, short for creativity, activity, service, is a set of projects outside lessons, often in the community.
The scoring is simple once you see it. Each subject is graded 1 to 7, so six subjects give a maximum of 42. TOK and the extended essay together add up to 3 more, and that's where 45 comes from. CAS earns no points, but there's no Diploma without it. The pass mark is 24, with some minimum conditions, all set out in the IB's guide to Diploma assessment. For May 2026, the IB put the global average at 30.88 points, across 209,607 students who received Diploma and Career-related Programme results.
Singapore has had an IB World School since 1977. The IB's Singapore page lists 40 schools today: 30 teach the Diploma, 22 the Primary Years Programme (PYP), 10 the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and 3 the Career-related Programme (CP).
The results go deep. Six students scored a perfect 45, 29% of the year group scored 42 or more and 67% scored 38 or more, according to the school's announcement on 7 July 2026. Tanglin has been in Singapore since 1925, runs as a non-profit and registered charity, and says it is the only school here rated outstanding in every category in consecutive British Schools Overseas inspections, the latest in 2025.
It's also the second most expensive Sixth Form on this list. Years 12 and 13 cost S$58,080 a year in 2026-27, with the Building Fund and GST included, and new families pay a S$4,500 enrolment fee and a S$4,500 capital levy on top.

HCIS takes students from Year 1, which is Secondary 1, at about 13, and teaches one integrated curriculum through to IB1 and IB2. There's no IGCSE stage on its website. It accepts applications for Year 1 to IB1 through the year, subject to places, and boarders live in its own residence in two-bedded, air-conditioned rooms. Note it's a different school from Hwa Chong Institution, the local school with a similar name.
Its fees are already published for 2027: S$34,880 a year in Years 1 and 2, S$37,060 in Years 3 and 4 and S$39,240 in IB1 and IB2, plus a S$5,450 acceptance fee and a S$6,000 security deposit. Boarding adds S$29,774.16 a year. HCIS doesn't publish a pass rate, so ask for it when you visit.

The school's results page, updated on 5 August 2026 after re-marks, lists 62 students at 40 points or more and 103 at 35 or more, an average subject grade of 5.9 out of 7, and 87.4% of extended essays graded A or B. It doesn't publish a pass rate.
GIIS teaches a Montessori-based kindergarten, the IB PYP, Cambridge IGCSE, CBSE and the IB Diploma, so a family can switch tracks without switching schools. Fees are billed by term and shown on its fee page by grade and curriculum. I couldn't pin down one annual figure for the Diploma years there, so ask for the 2026-27 quote in writing.

Four students scored a perfect 45, and 29 earned the bilingual diploma, which the IB gives for passing literature-level courses in two languages, or one plus a subject studied in another language. Before the Diploma, students sit IGCSEs in Year 11: 192 did in 2026, and 73% of their grades were A* or A. The school counts four Oxbridge offers among this year's university results.
It's the most expensive school on this list. Year 12 costs S$58,470 and Year 13 S$59,220 in 2026-27, and new students pay a S$1,500 application fee, a S$4,000 enrolment fee and a S$4,500 capital levy. The campus is in Bukit Batok, in the west.

It's a secondary school only, set up in 2005, with Christian values and about half its students from Singapore. Its profile says it's one of three international schools here allowed to take both local and international students. Years 1 and 2 follow its own curriculum, Years 3 and 4 lead to Cambridge IGCSE, and Years 5 and 6 are the IB Diploma. Students who join later can come in through a one-year Foundation IB or Pre-IB bridging course.
Fees for 2027, GST included, are S$41,420 for Year 5 and S$30,520 for Year 6, so the two Diploma years cost about S$71,940 in tuition. Years 1 to 4 are S$31,610 a year. Like HCIS, it sits the November exams, and the school notes its 37 may rise once appeals are done.

It doesn't run the PYP or MYP. Children follow UWCSEA's own programme from K1, built on academics, activities, outdoor education, personal and social education and service, and take the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12. It has 6,026 students from 117 nationalities, and boarding from Grade 8. For a teenager who'd get as much from a trek or a service project as from an exam, it's the first school I'd visit.
Grades 11 and 12 cost S$49,926 a year in 2026-27. The development levy adds S$9,537 in the first year and S$5,166 a year after that, the steepest levy on this list. Its results page also shows its top 50 students averaging 43.7.

Nexus teaches the IB PYP in primary and the IB MYP in Years 7 to 9, then switches to IGCSE in Years 10 and 11 before the Diploma. It counts more than 60 nationalities on its Aljunied campus. The school first reported a 35.7 average and updated it to 35.8 in August, though its results page still shows the first figure. It doesn't publish a pass rate.
Years 12 and 13 cost S$50,800 a year in 2026-27, plus a S$2,000 development levy each year. New families pay a S$1,090 application fee and a S$5,123 enrolment fee, and half-day Nursery starts at S$26,600.

Of those students, 21% scored 40 or more, 30% earned the bilingual diploma, and two students shared the top score of 43. Chatsworth was founded in 1995, takes children from 3 to 18, and has about 55 nationalities on its Bukit Tinggi Road campus.
Years 12 and 13 cost S$41,512 a year in 2026-27. That's about S$8,400 less than UWCSEA and S$17,700 less than Dulwich for the final year. There's also a development fee of S$2,828 a year and a one-time S$3,250 confirmation fee. For IB all the way through without the top-tier price, this is where I'd start.

In 2026, 37 students earned the bilingual diploma, the highest count of any school here that publishes one. 33 scored 38 or more, two scored 44, and 88% scored 30 or more. CIS doesn't publish a pass rate. Younger children can join Chinese-English or French-English bilingual classes, which its fee schedule lists up to Grade 6.
Grades 11 and 12 cost S$53,500 a year in 2026-27. CIS charges no yearly building or development levy, only a one-time S$4,300 facilities fee and a S$5,500 confirmation fee for a first child, so the yearly cost is easy to plan.

Part of Nord Anglia Education, it teaches a British curriculum from 3 to 18. Students take I/GCSEs, then the IB Diploma or BTEC courses in the Sixth Form, and students on its Pathway programme earn ASDAN awards. Its 2025 Diploma cohort averaged 36. The school has more than 50 years in Singapore and families from more than 60 countries.
Fees depend on the pathway. On Pathway 1, Years 12 and 13 cost S$47,982 a year in 2026-27, and Pathway 3 is S$60,579 for Year 12, so ask which applies to your child. Every student also pays a S$3,189 building fund each year. The school doesn't publish a pass rate.

Only Chatsworth and CIS run all three main IB programmes. Most of the high scorers reach the Diploma another way, through IGCSEs or their own curriculum, and the results show that route works just as well. If your child is still in the early years, my guide to international preschools in Singapore covers the stage before primary school.
If you're looking for an IB school in Singapore for the first time, these are the things I'd check before paying a deposit.
- A published average, with the session named. Compare it with the global figure for the same session. The IB put May 2026 at 30.88, and the November exams run lower, at 29.3 for November 2025 by the schools' own figures. A November school and a May school aren't directly comparable.
- A pass rate, or a reason it's missing. Five of my top 10 don't publish one. That doesn't mean it's low, but it's a fair question at the open day.
- The share scoring 40 or more. An average can hide a long tail. Among my top 10, the schools that publish it have between 21% and 46% of students at 40 or more.
- Who the school admits. A non-selective school averaging 35, like Dover Court, may be doing more for an average student than a selective one averaging 37. Ask about entry tests.
- The route to the Diploma. A full continuum (PYP, MYP, DP), IGCSEs, or a school's own curriculum. Pick the one that matches where you might move next.
- Authorisation. Every school teaching IB programmes appears in the IB's Find an IB World School directory, with the programmes it's authorised for, the date and its exam session.
One more for Singaporean families: an international school isn't the only way to the IB. MOE's Integrated Programme leads to the IB Diploma at some local schools, which I cover next.
A lot of parents searching for IB schools in Singapore mean a local school. MOE's Integrated Programme is a six-year course in which students skip the O Levels and finish with A Levels, the IB Diploma or the NUS High School Diploma, depending on the school. These are the local routes to the IB I could confirm on official pages:
- Anglo-Chinese School (Independent). Its Integrated Programme students take the IB Diploma in their fifth and sixth years.
- St. Joseph's Institution (SJI). The IB's directory lists SJI, on Malcolm Road, as a state school authorised for the Diploma since February 2012, sitting the November exams. It's a separate school from SJI International.
- School of the Arts (SOTA). A specialised arts school for ages 13 to 18, with a six-year arts and academic curriculum that leads to the IB Diploma or the IB Career-related Programme.
Getting in works differently from an international school. Places come through the PSLE and MOE's Direct School Admission (DSA-Sec) exercise, where children apply on a talent and get their allocation with their PSLE results. International students who want a local school sit MOE's AEIS tests, for Primary 2 to 5 and Secondary 1 to 3, and my AEIS preparation guide covers the centres that prepare for them. I kept these schools out of my ranking, which compares international schools on the results they publish.
I started from the schools that come up most when you search for IB schools in Singapore and read the guides that rank for it. Then I opened each school's own results page, news release or school profile, and recorded the latest IB Diploma average and pass rate it published, plus its fee schedule. I checked everything on 28 October 2026. Where a figure only appeared in a directory or a sponsored article, I left it out.
The order follows the published average. Where schools tied at 35, a published pass rate came first, then the IB programmes they run. I looked at 16 international schools in all. OWIS Nanyang also averaged 35 in 2026, from its biggest cohort yet at 42, and I'd like to see a second year at that level. Stamford American, XCL World Academy and ISS published lower averages, Overseas Family School's 2026 average wasn't in the text of its site, and I couldn't find GESS's results on its website at all. I'll update the list when the May 2027 results are out.
Reading 16 school websites for this guide showed me how differently schools handle the number parents want most. Some put the average and pass rate in plain text on a results page. Others bury them in an image or a PDF, or leave the pass rate out. If you run a school, enrichment centre or tuition business, I design websites that put that proof where parents, and Google, can read it. See my web design services in Singapore, my guide to websites and SEO for tuition centres, or get a quote.
IB schools in Singapore charge about S$30,500 to S$59,200 a year for the two Diploma years, based on the fee schedules of the schools on this list. Two years of Diploma tuition comes to about S$71,940 at ACS (International) and S$117,690 at Dulwich College (Singapore), before levies, enrolment fees and IB exam fees.
The one-off costs add up. Tanglin and Dulwich each charge a S$4,500 capital levy, UWCSEA's development levy is S$9,537 in the first year, and enrolment or confirmation fees run from S$3,250 at Chatsworth to S$5,500 at CIS. Most of the schedules I read include GST, but check before you compare.
A good IB score is anything well above the global average, which the IB put at 30.88 out of 45 for May 2026. The pass mark is 24. The schools in my top 10 average 35 to 39, and at those that publish it, 21% to 46% of students score 40 or more.
Universities don't work from one cut-off. NTU, for one, says it has too few IB applicants to publish a meaningful IB grade profile. If your child needs help in a Diploma subject, my guide to IB tuition in Singapore covers the tutors and centres that teach it.
Yes. All three of NUS, NTU and SMU admit students on the IB Diploma. NUS accepts it from applicants of any nationality, and also takes the IB Career-related Programme, as long as English was one of the subjects. Each university wants official results sent to it by the IB.
NTU accepts both IB maths courses for programmes that need maths, and asks Singapore citizens and PRs to meet a Mother Tongue requirement, such as a pass in a Mother Tongue language A or B course. SMU asks students sitting the May exams for teacher-predicted scores, due by 31 March for the 2026 intake. If Mother Tongue is the weak spot, my guide to Chinese tuition in Singapore may help.
Neither is better for every child. The IB Diploma keeps six subjects going to 18, plus TOK, an extended essay and CAS, scored out of 45. A Levels let a student go deeper in fewer subjects. Choose the IB for breadth and A Levels to specialise earlier.
Tanglin Trust School offers both in its Sixth Form, so the choice can wait until after IGCSEs. In the local system the choice comes with the school, because each Integrated Programme school leads to its own qualification. If your child is doing IGCSEs first, my IGCSE schools guide covers that stage, and for A Level support there's my guide to tuition centres in Singapore.
Of the 10 schools on my list, 2 run the full IB continuum of PYP, MYP and Diploma: Chatsworth International School and Canadian International School (CIS). Nexus teaches the PYP and MYP, then IGCSE before the Diploma. Across Singapore, the IB lists 22 PYP schools and 10 MYP schools.
The other high scorers here reach the Diploma through IGCSEs (Tanglin, Dulwich, ACS (International) and Dover Court), their own curriculum (UWCSEA and Hwa Chong International) or a mix of tracks (GIIS). A continuum matters most if your child may move to another IB school abroad, because the programmes carry over.
On published results, the best IB schools in Singapore are Tanglin Trust School, Hwa Chong International School and GIIS, with Dulwich College (Singapore) and ACS (International) close behind. For a full IB continuum from the early years, look at Chatsworth and CIS. For the biggest Diploma year group, UWCSEA. For a non-selective school, Dover Court.
Whichever you visit, ask for three numbers in writing: the latest average, the pass rate and the share scoring 40 or more, and which exam session they're from. For the wider picture, British and American schools included, see my guide to international schools in Singapore. Once your child is in the Diploma, my IB tuition guide is the next stop, and for the school holidays there's my list of holiday camps in Singapore. This guide sits in my Terris Recommends Education & Enrichment series.
