These tools handle that class of job in the browser, with no queue, no account and no file leaving your laptop.
Trimming, cropping and background removal are three different jobs
They get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing, which is why there are two tools here rather than one.
- Trimming finds the edge of the artwork and cuts everything outside it. The result is always a rectangle, it is always smaller, and it can never make anything transparent. Use the image trimmer when a logo has empty margin baked into the file.
- Cropping is you choosing a rectangle. It happily cuts through the artwork, which is the point when you need a square avatar out of a wide photo.
- Background removal deletes pixels by colour and leaves transparency behind, in whatever shape the artwork happens to be. Use the transparent background maker when a white box is showing behind a logo.
- Resizing changes how many pixels the image has at all, which is the one that actually makes a page load faster. Use the bulk image resizer when the files are simply too big, and let it compress and convert to WebP in the same pass.
The two often run together. Key the background out first, then trim, and you get a tight transparent PNG with no dead space around it. The background tool can do both in one pass.
Why these run in your browser instead of on our server
Every one of these jobs is a pixel loop. A laptop does it in a few hundred milliseconds, so there is no technical reason to send the file anywhere, and three good reasons not to.
- Client work stays private. An unreleased logo or a campaign asset under embargo never leaves the machine, so there is no upload to explain to a client or a legal team.
- No queue and no limit. Free upload sites throttle you at three files, then ask for an account. These just run.
- Batch is genuinely batch. A hundred photos processed locally take about as long as uploading three of them would.
The trade is that very large files lean on your own machine rather than a server, so a 60 megapixel scan is slower on an old laptop than on a new one.
What these tools will not do
Worth saying plainly, because it saves you a wasted upload.
- They are not an AI subject cutout. The background tool matches a colour. Cutting a person out of a busy photo needs a model that understands what a person is, and that is a different product.
- They do not vectorise. A keyed JPG is still pixels. If your logo is going on a signboard or a vehicle you need it redrawn as a vector, which is a design job.
- They will not rescue a screenshot of a logo. JPEG artefacts around the letterforms survive the key, and no tolerance setting removes them cleanly.
