Yes. Both have APIs, so invoices, bills and payments can be created or matched automatically, with a person approving before anything is posted.
It reads clean documents well and messy ones less well, so I build in checks: amounts that don't add up or unusual documents get flagged for a person instead of entered.
That's what the approval steps, logs and alerts are for. Anything important is approved by a person first, errors are flagged, and every step can be traced and corrected.
Zapier and Make are great for simple, rule-based automations, and I use them when they fit. Custom builds make sense when the work needs AI to read or decide, or when platform costs grow with volume.
A single, well-defined workflow is usually the first phase. The timeline is agreed with the scope before the work starts, and testing on real data is part of it.
